Kosci Barnes brings length, ball skills, and rising-star buzz to South Carolina’s secondary
In the 2025 recruiting cycle, Kosci Barnes emerged as a fast-rising North Carolina cornerback and ultimately signed with South Carolina as a four-star prospect, ranked No. 291 nationally and No. 35 among CBs by Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s valued for his size (around 6-foot-2), versatility in the secondary, and production at Grimsley in the 2024 season, when he posted 59 tackles, six tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and three interceptions. The fit is obvious: he looks like a long, physical corner with upside, and South Carolina clearly believes his family-first, high-motor vibe translates well to the SEC.
