Patrick McKinney brings old-school VMI toughness and linebacker instincts
In the 2007 season, Patrick McKinney was a tackling machine for VMI, posting 78 total tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks, which points to a linebacker who finds the ball and finishes plays[7]. VMI’s roster and game notes also show him as a high-motor, versatile defender who started at linebacker before moving to defensive end and was praised for strong spring work, good instincts, technique, and a big-frame, physical style that fits a contact-heavy defense[1][3][6]. For a team that values toughness, experience, and a player who can adapt, he looks like a grinder who helps set the tone rather than just chase highlight stats[1][3].
