Than Merrill brings Yale-sized versatility and toughness at defensive back
Than Merrill is notable for his **size and versatility** in the secondary, having played both strong and free safety at Yale and earning all-conference recognition as a three-year starter. In his Yale career, he developed into a reliable tackler and ballhawk, including a senior season with 55 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 4 passes defensed, while also showing value on special teams early in his college career. His best fit is a defense that wants a physical, assignment-sound DB who can cover ground, help in run support, and bring veteran instincts rather than pure track-speed flash.[15][16]
