USC's Late-Blooming Sharpshooter from 2002
Gennaro Busterna, a 6-3 JUCO transfer guard for the USC Trojans in the 2001-02 season, broke out of early scoreless doldrums with a career-high 21 minutes and 10-point scoring debut against Arizona (Jan. 17, 2002), featuring two threes and four free throws amid USC's nine-game win streak. Known for clutch shooting and pesky defense from his Manual High days, his tenacity and All-City roots made him a gritty bench spark—ideal for teams needing intense, reliable role players who elevate in big moments.
