Lionel McGriff’s Georgia Southern profile is a veteran DB with upside, not a stat-stuffer
Lionel McGriff is listed as a Georgia Southern cornerback and wears No. 16, with ESPN’s player page showing limited recorded defensive production and no notable interception totals in the available season data. His value is more about role fit and versatility: Georgia Southern’s bio notes he practiced at running back, defensive back, and wide receiver, which hints at athleticism, adaptability, and coach trust. He looks like a depth-and-flexibility piece rather than a headline-grabbing playmaker, so he’s a fit if you want a multi-phase competitor who can plug into different packages.
