Marcel Shipp remains a UMass legend, but he’s not a current Minutemen RB
Marcel Shipp is best known as UMass’s all-time rushing king, with 6,250 career yards, 58 rushing touchdowns, and a Hall of Fame résumé from his 1997–2000 playing days[6][13]. If you meant a current Massachusetts running back, this name is a mismatch: the publicly available 2026 team context points to Shipp as the Minutemen’s running backs coach, not an active player[3]. As a player, his differentiator was workhorse production and durability, but for today’s roster fit, he’s coaching the room rather than carrying the ball[3][6].
