Ryan Humphreys brings strikeout-heavy left-handed upside to Pepperdine
Humphreys looks like the kind of LHP coaches love to bet on: in his 2024 season at Westmont, he logged 118 strikeouts in 88 innings with a 2.45 ERA and a .186 opponent batting average, flashing real bat-missing ability and control of contact. The differentiator is the combo of punchouts and durability, plus a proven track record as a high-volume starter who can miss barrels. The caveat is role transition and competition jump, so the big question at Pepperdine is how quickly that stuff translates against stronger West Coast bats.
