From Rutgers Walk-On QB to Texas Longhorns Rising Star Coach
Mike Bimonte, a former Rutgers Scarlet Knights walk-on quarterback (2011-2014) who grinded as the No. 3 QB and held for placements, has skyrocketed in coaching—now co-passing game coordinator and assistant QB coach at Texas, where he helped orchestrate a 2024 offense averaging 278.8 pass yds (14th FBS), 158.8 rush yds, and 33 pts/game (29th), fueling Quinn Ewers' 3,472 yds and 31 TDs. His differentiator? Relentless work ethic and up-and-coming play-calling smarts that Sarkisian couldn't afford to lose—perfect fit for teams seeking innovative, player-development coaches with Big 12 championship pedigree from Texas' 2023 title run.
