Wichita State’s pressure-proof floor general with elite playmaking and pesky defense
Fred VanVleet was the kind of Wichita State guard every coach trusts: in his Shockers career, he finished as the program’s all-time assists leader (637), steals leader (225), and assist-to-turnover ratio leader (3.08), with a four-year scoring climb that peaked at 13.6 points per game in the 2014-15 season. His calling card was toughness, pace control, and mistake-free decision-making—plus a relentless edge that shows up in the box score and the intangible stuff. If you want a composed, winning-minded lead guard who elevates teammates and defends like a pest, he’s your guy.
