Van Ameyde’s big frame and bat-missing arm still intrigue, but Notre Dame needs sharper command
In the 2025 season, Notre Dame RHP Chase Van Ameyde flashed real swing-and-miss upside with 31 strikeouts in 23.2 innings, but the run prevention lagged (8.37 ERA) and his role expanded only modestly in 2026, when Notre Dame listed him with 11 appearances, one start, and a 14.00 ERA. He’s a 6-foot-5 righty with a projectable build and enough stuff to keep evaluators interested, but the pitchability and consistency are still catching up. If your team values upside and arm strength over instant polish, he’s a worthwhile follow.
