Maleek Frazier is Virginia’s steady walk-on guard with championship-level grit
Maleek Frazier’s value at Virginia is less about box-score fireworks and more about reliability, maturity, and team-first toughness: he was a 5-foot-10 guard from Charlottesville who walked on after serving as a student manager, then earned minutes on a roster that won ACC regular-season titles in the 2023 season? No—his UVA tenure was with the 2013-15 teams, including the 2014 ACC tournament and 2014, 2015 regular-season championship runs. His career stats were modest, but his role fit a program that prizes discipline, defense, and knowing your job; he’s the kind of low-ego glue piece coaches love and opponents barely notice until it’s too late.
