Blegen, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive lineman from Benton Community HS, arrived at North Dakota with three varsity letters, three-time all-state honors, and a senior-year line of 56.5 tackles plus a Shrine Bowl invite. In 2024, he redshirted but still appeared in four games, logging tackles against Youngstown State and Illinois State, which suggests a freshman who was trusted enough to get on the field early.
