Ellis Chang is Charleston’s glove-first catcher with hometown edge
In the 2025 season, Ellis Chang appeared sparingly for College of Charleston, but his profile still screams catcher value: a strong defensive background, right-handed bat, and local Charleston pedigree from Porter-Gaud, where he was a 2022 SCISA AAA All-State pick and hit .438 with nine home runs. At 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, he looks built for the dirty-work role teams love behind the plate. If you want a grinder with leadership vibes and upside in a system that values defense, he’s a name to keep on the radar.
