Gardner-Webb’s Freshman IF with All-State Pedigree and Two-Way Smoothness
Sam Craig, a 5’6” freshman infielder for Gardner-Webb, brings elite prep credibility as a 5A All-State senior from Lexington High School in South Carolina, earning three 5A-Region IIII All-Region honors. Known for being “smooth on both sides of the ball,” she combines left-handed hitting with right-handed fielding versatility, a rare differentiator for an IF. Head Coach Bailey Wigness calls her journey “exciting” and notes she’s “doing really well,” signaling high intensity and rapid adaptation. Her personality blends grit with grace, and while no injury history is reported, her compact frame demands elite agility—making her a high-upside fit for teams needing defensive flexibility and offensive consistency. Care about Craig because she’s a data-driven, stat-ready talent with national-level prep roots and a coach-backed trajectory.
