veteran VMI safety with length, experience and steady defensive value
Trae Watkins is a seasoned VMI defensive back whose value starts with experience and back-line reliability; VMI lists him as a safety and notes he is an Economics and Business major, which fits the profile of a dependable, disciplined contributor[1][2]. In VMI’s roster history, Watkins appears as a 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior/senior-era defender from Lynchburg, Virginia, showing he has been in the program for multiple seasons and brings maturity to the secondary[2][3][4]. The biggest draw is the combination of continuity, toughness and positional flexibility in the defensive backfield—useful for a team wanting a smart, low-drama safety who can help stabilize coverage and communicate on the back end[1][2].
