Samford’s 6-4 righty Alex Gaeto brings size, pedigree, and upside to the Bulldogs’ staff
Alex Gaeto entered Samford as a high-upside right-hander with a 6-4 frame, a strong prep résumé, and a reputation as a strike-throwing competitor after posting a 1.56 ERA, 47 strikeouts, and a 5-1 record in his 2021 high school season. Samford’s 2026 roster lists him as a senior RHP at 6-4, 210 pounds, and the Bulldogs’ own 2021 signing notes highlighted his physical build and developing velocity as key differentiators. He saw no game action in 2025, and his 2026 stat line shows limited work, so the appeal is projection: if you want a big-bodied arm with starter traits and growth potential, he’s the kind of pitcher worth betting on.
