former high-volume scorer now a depth guard for NIU
DeHaan arrives at Northern Illinois with a clear calling card: at Waubonsie Valley, he was a proven high-usage scorer who averaged 14.5 points and 5.3 rebounds as a senior while earning team MVP and First Team All-Upstate Eight honors.[3] At the college level, his role has been much smaller, with ESPN listing him at 0.4 points and 1.0 rebound per game, which suggests he is currently more of a developmental piece than an immediate box-score driver.[2] He looks like a fit for a staff that values toughness, experience, and upside in a guard who has already shown he can produce in a featured role.[3][2]
