FIU's Athletic Spark Plug Evolving into Global Pro Force
DJ Mitchell, the 6'8" Australian-American forward who briefly lit up FIU as a guard in 2020-21 (4.6 PPG, 2.0 RPG in 20 games), has blossomed into a versatile, smooth-shooting pro standout—dominating NBL1 North in 2025 with 20.1 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 5.0 APG for Ipswich Force before joining South East Melbourne Phoenix in Australia's NBL. His elite athleticism, knockdown shooting range, and high-motor intensity make him a differentiator; now thriving with Manchester Basketball (2025-26) and Australia's 3x3 national team, he's a high-upside, team-first fit for programs seeking international-ready wings with championship pedigree.
