Vincent Borghese has become Rutgers’ workhorse righty with a power-leaning Big Ten profile
Borghese’s 2026 Rutgers season showed why he matters: he moved from long relief into the Scarlet Knights’ No. 2 starter role, flashed swing-and-miss stuff, and delivered big outs in high-leverage spots, including an eight-inning gem at Penn State and eight strikeouts in 4.2 scoreless innings vs. Bryant[2][3][5]. In 2025, he was a full-time starter at Central Connecticut State with a 10-3 record, 4.42 ERA, six complete games, and 93 strikeouts in 89.2 innings, a strong foundation for a durable, attack-the-zone profile[12]. Scouts have clearly noticed the climb, and Rutgers valued him as a veteran transfer who wanted to win in the Big Ten[4][2].
