Maine LB John Kay brings size, stability, and rising-upside to the Black Bears defense
In the 2026 season, John Kay is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound sophomore linebacker for Maine who gives the Black Bears a sturdy, physically mature presence in the middle of the defense.[1][3] His value is in the frame and profile: a bigger-bodied, workmanlike LB with room to keep ascending, the kind of player who can fit a physical team defense and handle the dirty work that doesn’t always light up the stat sheet.[1]
