Ava Medellin brings speed, pop, and versatility to Sacramento State
A true freshman in the 2026 season, Ava Medellin has already flashed why Sacramento State wanted her: a compact 5-foot-2 shortstop/utility with real athleticism, a quick glove, all-fields bat, and base-running juice. She was praised in her signing notes for great range, speed, and the arm strength to handle shortstop, plus enough pop to leave the yard. In 2026, she delivered early impact with her first collegiate home run and came through in clutch spots, including a key two-out RBI in extra innings and a homer in the Big Sky Tournament semifinal. She looks like a spark plug with upside.
