Former Virginia Guard Transitions to Coaching After Professional Career
J.R. Reynolds is no longer an active player but has pivoted to coaching at the collegiate level. The 6'2" guard, who graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007, was known as an explosive scorer with NBA-ready athleticism and surprising quickness for his position. After playing professionally in Europe and a stint with the Maine Celtics (NBA G League), Reynolds joined Queens as Director of Basketball Operations in 2023-24 before becoming an Assistant Coach. He's now with Omaha (2025-present). His transition from player to coach reflects his deep basketball IQ and commitment to player development—making him valuable for programs seeking experienced voices in their coaching staff.
