UAB's 2008 LB Prospect Who Faded into Coaching Obscurity
Katrell Watters, a linebacker from Thomasville, Ala., joined UAB in 2008 as part of one of the program's weakest recruiting classes—ranked poorly by Bleacher Report with only two recruits above a 70 grade, including him—but left no notable stats or impact in college play. Now an assistant coach at Marengo High School in Dixons Mills, Ala., he showcases leadership and football IQ ideal for high school programs, though his lack of standout athletic production or pro trajectory makes him a pass for college or higher levels unless seeking a gritty, local coaching hire.
