David Akere brings veteran ball skills and leadership to Georgetown’s secondary
Akere is a reliable Georgetown defensive back whose value goes beyond box-score numbers: ESPN lists him as a Hoyas DB, and Georgetown’s profile notes he finished 2016 second on the team with 77 tackles and two interceptions while earning the No. 35 jersey for his character and vocal, lead-by-example presence. That combination of production, intensity, and respect in the locker room makes him the kind of steady, mature defensive piece coaches trust in a fit that needs toughness and accountability.
