Appalachian State’s Walk-On Turned Go-To Slot Weapon
Simms McElfresh, a former walk‑on at Appalachian State, emerged as the Mountaineers’ leading receiver by senior year, topping the team with 38 catches and 466 yards while ranking second with six touchdowns in 12 games. Reliable and tough over the middle, he pairs crisp route‑running with high football IQ and leadership, having matured from role player to one of the offense’s most trusted targets. His underdog background, work ethic, and consistency in contested situations make him an ideal fit for programs valuing production, character, and slot versatility.
