Will Melby Jr. brings legit velocity and swing-and-miss upside to UMass Lowell’s bullpen
Melby is a right-handed pitcher with a fastball that has shown **upper-90s velocity** in Statcast data and a slider/changeup mix that gives him real bullpen upside, while his 2025 season at UIndy showed efficiency in short bursts: 11 appearances, seven innings, and nine strikeouts, with no earned runs in seven outings. He has also handled a multi-transfer path and still earned academic recognition, which suggests resilience and coachability. The fit is most attractive for teams seeking a live arm with development runway rather than a finished product.[1][2][9]
