a small-school speed-and-versatility piece who can add depth in the secondary
Newsome is listed by San Jose State and recruiting services as a defensive back/athlete with a compact frame (about 5-10, 165) and a background that suggests versatility more than star billing, which can make him useful as a depth defender or special-teams option[3][4]. ESPN currently lists him on the Spartans roster, but his public stat line is extremely light, so the real value case is upside, flexibility, and roster fit rather than proven production[2]. If you want a young, athletic safety who can compete for snaps and contribute in multiple roles, he is worth a look; if you need an established, high-volume playmaker, the evidence is not there yet[1][2].
