Ben Thomason is a big-bodied UMass righty with early promise and usable strikeout ability
In the 2025 season, redshirt freshman Ben Thomason flashed swing-and-miss potential for Massachusetts, striking out 17 in 20.2 innings while working a starter-reliever mix across 12 appearances and three starts, though his 6.53 ERA and 23 walks show the command is still a work in progress.[1][2] At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, he brings a power-pitcher frame and already showed he can miss bats in bursts, including a five-strikeout outing at Davidson and a strong two-inning relief finish in a 2026 shutout win over Eastern Michigan.[1][4]
