Iowa sharpshooter, glue-guy energy, and a feel-good Drake alum
Connor Gholson entered Drake as a redshirt guard from Newton, where he was the school’s all-time leading scorer and one of Iowa’s most prolific prep shooters, hitting 79 threes as a senior in 2016-17 and leading Newton to its first state tournament trip in 25 years. At Drake, his on-court role was modest, with 2020-21 averages of 0.4 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, but his differentiators were clear: shooting pedigree, toughness, and persistence after a serious right-leg injury in 2018. He looks like a culture-fit guard, not a stat-stuffer.
