VMI DL Declan Franklin brings early-career disruption and steady physicality
Declan Franklin is a depth-to-development defensive lineman at VMI whose profile is built more on toughness and effort than eye-popping production: in 2019 he appeared in three games and logged a fumble recovery against Mars Hill, and VMI listed him at 6-1, 255 as a freshman in 2019-20.[1][6] The limited stat line suggests a player still fighting for a bigger role, but the upside is a compact, physical DL with game exposure and a special-teams/rotation path rather than a proven high-volume pass rusher yet.[1]
