a blue-collar Gamecock linebacker who brings effort and versatility
McGonigal is a redshirt senior walk-on who has bounced between linebacker, fullback, and EDGE, which tells you the staff values his toughness, football IQ, and willingness to do the dirty work. In his college stat line, he has been a rare depth-piece contributor rather than a volume producer, so his value is more about reliability, special-teams help, and team-first energy than splash plays. If your team wants a grinder who plays with great effort and can fill multiple roles, he fits that mold.
