a steady UC Irvine guard with deep Anteater roots
Melissa Jacob is a former UC Irvine guard whose college footprint still shows up in the program record book: she ranks among the Anteaters’ career leaders in scoring average (26.6) and free throws made per game (3.4) in the 2004-05 to 2005-06 span. She was a reliable scorer and late-game free-throw option, and box scores from that era show her as a productive, all-around backcourt piece rather than a one-dimensional gunner. If you’re looking for a guard who brought composure, scoring punch, and toughness, Jacob fits the bill.
