Zack Starnes brings veteran safety instincts and playmaking juice to SFA
In the 2026 season, Zack Starnes is the kind of experienced defensive back coaches trust: a senior safety with 21 career games, nine starts, 70 tackles, 6 pass breakups, 2 interceptions and a forced fumble for Stephen F. Austin. He’s listed at 5-9, 184, so he wins with range, anticipation and competitiveness rather than pure size, and his career production shows he can trigger downhill and make timely plays. If your team wants a tough, reliable back-end defender with ball skills and no nonsense, Starnes absolutely deserves a look.
