trusted depth linebacker with special-teams value
Welch is a reliable, physical linebacker who has carved out an NFL role through special teams, consistency, and toughness rather than splashy box-score production; across his career he has shown he can stick on a roster and contribute in multiple phases, including 72 regular-season games and 27 special-teams tackles with two fumble recoveries per Packers notes. [16] His 2024 PFF profile graded him modestly overall, which suggests he is more of a dependable depth piece than a high-end starter, but his experience, instincts, and willingness to play dirty-work football make him a useful fit for teams needing linebacker depth and core special-teams help.
