UIC’s steady, defense-first catcher with upside behind the plate
Jordan Osborne entered the 2025 season as a sophomore catcher for UIC after appearing in 11 games and making one start as a freshman, giving the Flames a young backstop with game experience already in hand.[1] The clearest differentiators are her defensive position, 5'9" frame, and a high-character recruiting profile from high school/travel ball: SIU described her as an All-Conference center fielder, a CIF section champion, and a captain for her travel organization, where she posted a .411 career batting average, 14 home runs, and a 1.104 OPS.[1][8] That combination points to a player who can bring athleticism, leadership, and contact power potential rather than just raw stat-line volume.[1][8]
