In the 2025 season, Sam Buerkle emerged as a legit interior-force piece for Fordham, starting all 12 games at defensive tackle and finishing with 41 total tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks. He’s the kind of DL who shows up with production and mileage: physical at the point of attack, sturdy against the run, and disruptive enough to chip in behind the line without needing the spotlight. He was also named to Phil Steele’s 2023 All-Patriot League third team, a nice sign of sustained respect.
