Walk-on turned trusted veteran: Kevin Hovde brings size, versatility, and high-IQ edge to Richmond
Kevin Hovde was a 6-foot-6 guard/forward at Richmond who grew from walk-on to scholarship player, appearing in 99 games and scoring 195 points during his college career, with his most notable team success coming in 2011 when the Spiders won the Atlantic 10 and reached the Sweet 16. His game was defined less by gaudy numbers than by versatility, toughness, and a coach’s feel for the game — the kind of high-IQ, culture-first player who fits teams that value discipline and role acceptance.
