Oathel Edwards is a name to watch in MVSU’s defensive backfield
Oathel Edwards appears on Mississippi Valley State’s 2026 football roster at defensive back, but publicly available stat-tracking and scouting detail is limited, so the clearest takeaway is that he is still an under-the-radar piece rather than a headline-grabbing stat leader. For a team, that can actually be intriguing: DBs earn trust through coverage discipline, physicality, and special-teams reliability as much as raw numbers, and Edwards fits the profile of a depth-add or development prospect whose value will be judged by tape, not box scores. In short, he’s a low-noise, potentially useful defensive piece who could be worth a closer look if your staff values toughness and upside over instant-name recognition.
