Bubba Baxa gives Houston a veteran leg with proven kickoff pop and clutch-range experience
Bubba Baxa is a senior kicker for Houston in the 2026 season, listed at 6-0, 220, and he brings real specialist value: in the 2021 season he handled kickoffs in all eight games with 30 touchbacks on 44 kickoffs, and in the 2020 season he hit 8-of-10 field goals and all 20 PATs while tying Houston’s school record with a 53-yard make. His calling card is leg strength and reliability on kickoffs, plus the composure to handle long attempts; the main question is whether his consistency matches the upside after an injury-shortened 2022 finish.
