Duane Vaughn is a former Vanderbilt safety turned respected defensive coach
Duane Vaughn was a Vanderbilt safety in the 2008-10 era, but his current football value is on the coaching side: he has built a strong reputation as Furman’s long-time defensive mind, with AFCA recognizing his growth and leadership in 2024. His differentiators are football IQ, secondary expertise, recruiting chops, and a steady development track rather than raw-playmaking stats. If the question is fit, he looks like a high-character, detail-driven football guy who brings structure, teaching, and experience—less highlight reel, more program builder.
