steady, captain-level linebacker with real three-down value
Fred Scott was a reliable North Texas weak-side linebacker and one of the team’s captains in 2016, finishing that season with 55 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a sack while earning C-USA All-Academic honors.[3][15] His biggest differentiators are consistency, football IQ, and leadership rather than splashy production: coaches trusted him in eight starts, and the academic recognition suggests strong discipline and preparation.[3][15] For a team, he profiles as a dependable, assignment-sound linebacker who brings toughness, maturity, and stability more than pure elite athletic upside.
