UNCG’s Mayson Dear: versatile arm with relief value and strike-throwing upside
In the 2026 season, Mayson Dear has been a useful bullpen piece for UNC Greensboro, making 20 relief appearances, pitching 33.1 innings, and recording 31 strikeouts with 22 walks and two saves.[3] He also draws attention as a two-way profile on recruiting boards, with Perfect Game listing him as a nationally ranked North Carolina prospect and Prep Baseball Report showing measurable athletic tools that hint at upside beyond the box score.[4][6] He looks like a fit for teams valuing versatility, competitiveness, and bullpen depth rather than a pure power arm.[3][4]
