Travis Phillips brings savvy, speed, and ball-hawking instincts to ECU’s secondary
In East Carolina’s 2017 profile, Travis Phillips was described as the Pirates’ top field cornerback, praised for work ethic, fundamental execution, scheme understanding, speed, quickness, and a knack for making plays on the ball. He also flashed big-play juice with a 73-yard interception return in spring ball and earned the program’s Respect The Ball Award, which fits a defender who plays with confidence and discipline. The available record shows a career built more on steady reliability and special-teams value than gaudy counting stats, so he reads as a fit for a team that wants a smart, aggressive DB who can cover, tackle, and stay ready for assignment football.
