Mike McElroy brings veteran, captain-level stability to Southern Illinois' secondary
McElroy is best known for being a dependable Southern Illinois safety with proven leadership value, including serving as a two-year captain and starting strong safety at SIU; that kind of résumé signals trust, communication, and steadiness in the back end rather than flashy production. Sources available here do not provide current-season stat lines or recent rankings, so his appeal is mainly as a role-defining defensive presence who can fit a team that values experience, discipline, and on-field organization.[7][6][2]
