Experienced Eastern Illinois defensive back with a long college track record
Xzavier Shugars brings veteran know-how to Eastern Illinois, with roster history showing a long runway in the program and a 2019 note that he earned sixth-year eligibility after missing 2018 with injury, then returned for special teams work. His biggest differentiator is durability-through-adversity: a player who has stayed in the fight, understands the system, and can help stabilize a secondary room with experience and maturity. He looks like the kind of DB coaches trust for reliability, preparation, and practice-to-game consistency rather than flashy stat-chasing.
