UAB Freshman Guard with High-Intensity Defense and Untapped Potential
Netra Smith, a 5-9 freshman guard for the UAB Blazers from Harvest, Ala., is a high-intensity defensive specialist whose on-court aggression and relentless steal attempts (0.6 per game) stand out despite limited scoring (1.5 PPG) in her 2025-26 debut season. While her stats rank modestly among national guards (703rd in points, 418th in steals), her differentiator is her fearless personality, fresh-classroom adaptability, and zero injury history, making her a low-risk, high-upside fit for teams needing a gritty, defensive-minded guard who can grow into a leader. She’s not yet a stat leader, but her intensity and coachability make her a compelling prospect for future development.
