Veteran High Point catcher with a gritty, defensive-first profile
In the 2026 season, Matthew Martinez II was a senior catcher for High Point who appeared in 30 games and hit .223 (23-for-103) after an injury interrupted his year, while his 2025 season earned him Big South Second Team All-Conference honors. He brings value beyond the box score as an experienced, physical backstop at 5'11", 215 pounds, with enough offensive upside to have been a notable run producer in prior seasons. If a team wants toughness, experience, and a catcher who understands the grind, he’s the kind of fit that quietly upgrades a roster.
