steady Iona catcher with early-contact upside
Angel Cartagena entered the 2026 season as an Iona catcher from Farmingdale, N.Y., listed at 6-foot-1 and hitting right-handed, and his early line showed a .250 average with a .500 slugging percentage in limited action. The bigger draw is the profile: a catcher who already handled chances cleanly in a tiny sample, brings a compact bat, and gives roster flexibility as a sophomore in the 2027 roster view. He looks like a grinder-type fit for a staff that values defense, composure, and developmental upside more than flash.
