Walk-on grit, ECU DB, and a true underdog story
Spencer Hampton is remembered at East Carolina as a determined defensive back who earned his spot as a walk-on, played in ECU’s 2007 Liberty Bowl run, and later battled through a widely reported fight with stage-four melanoma. If you want a high-motor, resilient competitor with real ECU roots, he checks that box in a big way.
