James Drake brings size, burst, and developmental upside to Samford’s backfield
James Drake profiles as a long, athletic running back with a strong frame at 6'4" and 190 pounds, plus verified burst traits like a 4.98-second 40 and 32-inch vertical that hint at upside beyond the box score. Listed by Samford as a new roster addition, he looks more like a high-ceiling, still-developing fit than a finished product, so the appeal is in projecting his explosiveness, physical tools, and special-teams value rather than proven production. If your team wants a downhill back with mismatch size and room to grow, Drake is worth a hard look.
